Habitat: Shale glades and open woodlands with a shale substrate.
Flowering Date: late March - May
Fruiting Date: April - June
Causes for Concern: This species is restricted to a narrow range and is dependent on open and semi-open habitat which is at risk from invasion by woody plants (particularly eastern redcedar) in the absence of fire or other disturbance. Also threatened by mining of shale barrens for road fill.
Global Range: Restricted to the Ozark Plateau of Missouri and the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas.
