Arkansas Tarantula Survey

Tarantula species – tarantula habitat – tarantula habitats

The Arkansas Tarantula Survey has been completed. A great deal of thanks is owed to all of the "tarantula-watchers" across Arkansas who reported their tarantula observations. The data submitted by hundreds of Arkansans has allowed ANHC staff to construct a map of where tarantulas occur in the state; information that did not exist prior to this survey. Such data would have taken years for a one or two ecologists to collect, but participants in the survey provided it in just seven months. This information has contributed greatly to our knowledge of these impressive spiders and will serve as a critical baseline for future studies of tarantulas in Arkansas.
